Off duty Police officer convicted of driving with excess alcohol

Monday 5 August

An off-duty Police officer in the Bay of Plenty District was prosecuted for driving with excess alcohol, after he crashed his personal vehicle and sustained a broken arm. The officer pleaded guilty when he appeared before Te Kuiti District Court. Police opposed the officer's application for discharge without conviction.

On 10 April 2019, the Court convicted the officer and he then chose to resign from Police.

The Authority oversaw the Police investigation and agreed with the actions taken by Police.
