Officer accused of assaulting his partner

3 December 2019

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation of an officer in Counties/Manukau accused of assaulting his partner causing a head injury. The officer claimed to have acted in self-defence when he pushed his partner. Neither he nor the victim knew how she sustained the injury. Police found there was insufficient evidence to charge the officer. The officer resigned during the investigation so there was no employment investigation.

The Authority agreed with the outcome of the Police criminal investigation.
