Allegation of Sexual Violation against a Police Officer

10 December 2019

In December 2018 Police notified the Authority of a complaint of sexual violation against an off-duty Police Officer based in Northland. The parties involved were known to each other and the investigation focussed on the issue of consent. Police conducted a full criminal investigation and sought a legal opinion from the Crown. Ultimately, Police decided there was insufficient evidence to bring any criminal charges against the Officer.

The Authority reviewed the Police investigation and agreed with the findings and outcome.
