Canterbury Police Officer given written traffic warning following crash during pursuit

16 December 2019

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a notification where a Police officer was involved in a crash whilst travelling through an intersection during a short pursuit in July 2018.

Officers in an unmarked police vehicle commenced the pursuit in the early hours of the morning when a vehicle that had earlier been involved in a kidnapping and robbery incident failed to stop when signalled to do so. Soon after the pursuit had commenced, the Police vehicle was travelling through an intersection with lights and sirens activated when it collided with a vehicle being driven by a member of the public. No one was injured.

Police investigated the crash and the officer received an appropriate outcome.

The Authority agreed with the outcome of the investigation.
