The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a vehicle collision involving a Police car on 5 November 2018 in Christchurch.
A Police officer was on his way to a serious incident with his lights and sirens activated. He drove through an intersection on a red light and collided with another vehicle, causing the other driver a minor injury.
Police found that the officer failed to check that the way was clear and was going too fast when he entered the intersection. He was issued a written traffic warning for careless driving and received an appropriate outcome.
The Authority was satisfied that the warning was issued in accordance with policy and agreed with the Police finding and the outcome.
