The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint in which it was alleged that a Police officer had made some inappropriate, offensive, and racist remarks while attending a traffic accident in Auckland City District in June 2018. The officer admitted to making the comments and acknowledged that his conduct had been inappropriate. The complaint was therefore upheld. A formal apology was provided to the complainant and the officer was sanctioned appropriately.
The Authority's final review of the Police investigation agreed with the finding.
