Officer discloses confidential information

7 November 2019

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an officer in the Wellington District who had been approached by a lawyer about a confidential Police matter. The investigation found there were conflicting accounts as to the extent of the discussion. While the officer admitted he made a brief comment about the matter to the lawyer, it was not at a level which was considered misconduct. His conduct was addressed through an employment process which applied an appropriate outcome. The Authority agreed with the Police finding and the outcome.
