Police officer convicted of careless driving causing injury in Counties/Manukau District

16 October 2019

A Police officer responding to a call for service was driving with flashing lights and sirens operating in very wet conditions. He crashed, causing injury to himself and another officer. The incident the officer was travelling to did not merit the use of excessive speed to attend.

The officer pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving causing injury and resigned from Police. The Authority oversaw the Police investigation and agreed with the actions taken by Police.
