Non-sworn staff member sent inappropriate email to colleague

24 August 2020

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation whereby a non-sworn member of Police in Northland emailed a colleague, who was a former friend, with a number of allegations. There were approximately six allegations which covered both personal and work related accusations including that the colleague had lied during a Police investigation years earlier.

Both staff members were spoken to about this allegation. However, their accounts differed and it could not be determined that the colleague had lied during the earlier Police investigation.

The staff member concerned who made the allegations went through an employment process and received an appropriate outcome.
