Police employee in Waitematā charged with assaulting a family member

14 December 2020

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an off-duty Police employee in Waitematā who was charged with assault after they pulled an elderly family member by her wrists from one room to another, ending in that family member falling to the ground. The employee admitted the charge and was discharged without conviction by the District Court. Subsequently, the employee received an employment sanction from Police. The Authority agrees with the outcomes of both Police investigations.
