Officer alleged to have unlawfully accessed and disclosed information

14 June 2020

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint alleging that a Police Officer accessed the Police Intelligence Database (NIA) for an unauthorised purpose and disclosed that information to a third person.

The Police investigation found that the officer did conduct two database checks on the complainant but both checks were for valid business reasons as part of the officer's duties. The investigation also found no evidence that the officer had disclosed the alleged information to a third person.

The Authority agreed with the Police investigation and findings.
