Officer in the Auckland City District charged with careless driving

15 June 2020

A police officer crashed his patrol vehicle into a civilian's vehicle while undertaking urgent duty driving en route to a call-out. The civilian sustained minor injuries which did not require hospitalisation.

Police investigated the matter with the Authority's oversight and the officer was charged with careless driving. The matter was also addressed directly with the officer following an employment investigation. The Authority agrees with the findings and outcome of the police investigation.
