Detective in Waitemata District entered false record into Police computer system

27 May 2020

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation where a Detective recorded in the Police computer system that a home visit had taken place in relation to a child protection matter when it had not. When challenged the detective initially lied to the supervisor before admitting the visit had not occurred and the record was false.

Police conducted an audit of the detective's files and are satisfied this was a one-off occurrence.

The Authority is satisfied that Police have appropriately addressed the detective's conduct through an employment process.
