Police employee in Counties/Manukau found to have breached policy by inappropriately accessing the Police national database

10 September 2020

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation a Police employee accessed the Police national database to check information about a high-profile murder case. The investigation then found the employee also checked other people known to her, as well as other investigations she was not involved in. The employee resigned from Police before the investigation could conclude. The Authority is satisfied the matter was dealt with appropriately during the process.
