The Authority oversaw a Police investigation involving a complaint about an off-duty Police officer from Waitemata, who allegedly committed an indecent act while alone at a beach, late at night.
The officer admitted his actions and the Police investigation found that while an indecent act was carried out in a public place, the officer had reasonable grounds for believing he would not be observed and therefore had a defence to any charge.
Police determined the officer's actions were a breach of the Police Code of Conduct. The officer received what the Authority considers was an appropriate sanction.
