The Authority oversaw a Police investigation of a crash involving a Police patrol and a civilian motor cyclist in Henderson.
On 15 December 2020, a police officer in a marked patrol vehicle attempted to conduct a u turn on a busy road in Waitemata. The officer was intending to apprehend a motorcyclist travelling in the opposite direction and had activated the patrol vehicle's red and blue lights. Part way through the manoeuvre, another motorcyclist crashed into the side of the stationary police vehicle.
The Police investigation found that the officer was not at fault for the crash. The Authority is satisfied with the standard of the investigation and agrees with the outcome reached.
