Auckland Police officer investigated for posting inappropriate content on a social media platform
The Authority oversaw a Police employment process into an allegation a Police officer breached the Police's Code of Conduct and Social Media Policy by posting inappropriate content on a social media platform. The Police process concluded that although his behaviour was not in line with the Code of Conduct and the Social Media Policy, the breaches did not amount to misconduct.
The Authority agrees Police took appropriate action to address the breaches with the officer. We also note Police will distribute a national prevention reminder to all Police staff around the use of social media and their expectations in maintaining their professionalism and integrity.
