Authorised Officer in Waitemata facilitates a breach of bail

16 February 2021

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation an Authorised Officer (specialist staff working in a custody unit) took a person he had just released from custody to an address he knew she had a bail condition not to go to. The AO said he did this because he wanted to help her get some essential personal items.

Police upheld the complaint, and the Authority considers the matter was appropriately resolved through a confidential employment process.
