Officer investigated for sending unsolicited, explicit images to female associates

23 March 2021

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a notification from North Island District alleging that a Police officer sent unsolicited, explicit images of his genitals to several female associates via a social media application. The investigation found that although there were multiple females who received images from the officer, the evidential test for prosecution was not met. During the employment process, the officer resigned from Police.

The Authority is satisfied with how the Police conducted their investigations and the outcomes they reached.
