The Authority oversaw an employment investigation that a Police communicator from the Southern Police Communications Centre disclosed sensitive personal information from a 111 call he overheard. The complainant also raised concerns about information he had posted on social media.
Police found the communicator did not disclose the sensitive information beyond speaking to the person concerned, but this was still a privacy breach and he did post information about his work activities on social media.
The communicator received an appropriate employment outcome, and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was notified of the privacy breach.
The Authority agreed with the findings and outcome of the investigation.
