Alleged breach of privacy – Central District

23 January 2023

Police investigated an allegation that the subject officer breached a former employee’s privacy by discussing an internal complaint they had made with another staff member. It was alleged the subject officer also made unprofessional comments and should not have had any involvement in the internal complaints process.

The Police investigation determined no breach of privacy occurred as this interaction involved relevant parties to the complaint and the discussion was part of progressing the underlying employment matter. Based on consistent accounts from the parties about what was said, Police determined no unprofessional comments were made during this exchange.

The Authority agrees with the findings of the Police investigation.
