The Authority oversaw a Police investigation that Police used excessive force and derogatory language during the arrest of a youth at Lower Hutt Hospital and while transporting him to the Police station.
They found that there was no other evidence to support that the Police actions were unprofessional or that excessive force was used. Within the course of the investigation, they found that officers did not get the youth appropriate medical care following a taser contact stun or complete the notification required for a warrantless search. The officers were professionally debriefed on this issue.
The Authority agrees with the Police findings and the outcome.
