Complaint about excessive use of force by Police staff when effecting the arrest of a woman in Central District

25 January 2022

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation following a complaint that officers caused injury to a woman’s body as they were effecting her arrest. The Police investigation determined the woman was obstructing the officers in the execution of their duties, and the force they used to effect the arrest was reasonable, justified and proportionate in the circumstances. However, Police apologised to the woman for their failure to offer her medical assistance following her arrest.

The Authority is satisfied with how the Police conducted their investigation and the outcomes they reached.
