The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint originating from Tasman District where it was alleged two officers had used excessive force when arresting a man, resulting in injuries to his mouth and body.
Police conducted an investigation and found there was no misconduct on the part of the two officers involved, and the man’s injuries were an unfortunate consequence of him resisting arrest. The complaint was not upheld.
Several days after the incident, the man apologised to Police for his behaviour.
The Authority is satisfied with the Police investigations and the outcomes they reached.
