Complaint about improper access to Police database

20 September 2022

The Authority oversaw Police enquiries in response to a complaint that an officer had improperly accessed, then shared, information about the complainant stored on a Police database.

Access logs showed the officer had viewed the complainant’s information and associated records. The officer was found to have had a legitimate reason to view this information. The officer did not improperly share the complainant’s information.

The Authority agrees with this finding.
