The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation that a Police officer was not working their rostered shifts and forged an email to prove they reported their absence as sick leave.
The investigation found the officer told his supervisor he was taking sick leave but altered the dates and content of an old email to make it look like it had been sent recently and avoid admitting to his supervisor that he didn’t know the correct process for reporting his sick leave. As Police considered the officer did not gain anything by sending the altered email message, there was insufficient evidence to prove he had committed a criminal offence. However, Police considered the officer breached the Code of Conduct and took appropriate employment action against the officer.
The Authority agrees with the outcome of the Police investigation.
