The Authority oversaw a Police investigation from Wellington District into an allegation that an off-duty officer allegedly assaulted another officer while socialising together.
A criminal investigation determined there was sufficient evidence to charge the officer, but due to the minor nature of the assault and the victim’s view on the matter, it was deemed not to be in the public interest to do so. Police found the officer’s conduct breached the Police Code of Conduct and they were sanctioned for their actions.
The Authority is satisfied with how the Police conducted their investigations and the outcomes they reached.
