The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint alleging that an officer in the Canterbury District was engaging in indecent communication with a 15-year-old. The officer met the victim using Instagram and engaged in conversation with her. The conversation was sexual in nature and the officer paid a small sum of money in exchange for explicit images.
Police investigated the matter, and the officer resigned from Police before being charged.
He was subsequently charged with indecent communication with a young person under 16. He pled guilty and was discharged without conviction by the court.
The Authority is satisfied with the Police investigation.
