The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into allegations a firearms instructor kicked three different recruits during live firearms training.
A criminal investigation determined there was insufficient evidence to charge the instructor, because he had been using his boot to safely adjust the recruits’ firing positions. Police found the instructor’s conduct did not breach the Police Code of Conduct and no disciplinary process was carried out.
As a result of allegations, Police have since made changes to the firearms training programme in respect of the way recruits are repositioned and briefed prior to the training.
The Authority agrees with the Police investigation and outcomes.
