The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation that a recruit made comments during a hui about their past employment, that suggested they may have given false information in their application.
Police conducted a criminal investigation to determine if the recruit had provided false information on their application to New Zealand Police. While there was insufficient evidence to support a prosecution, an employment process commenced to identify whether the recruit’s actions breached the Police Code of Conduct. However, the employee chose to resign during the employment process.
The Authority is satisfied with how the Police conducted their investigation.
