The Authority oversaw a Police investigation after being notified that an off-duty member of Police had assaulted a friend while heavily intoxicated. Minor injuries were sustained by the victim. It was also alleged that the officer caused damage to the victim’s address and verbally threatened the officer who arrested them.
The officer was charged with a number of offences and entered guilty pleas at court. They were subsequently discharged without conviction.
An employment investigation was completed following the conclusion of court proceedings. The Authority agrees with the outcome of this process and is satisfied that an appropriate employment sanction was imposed.
