Complaint of harassment by employee at Police National Headquarters upheld

20 June 2024

The Authority oversaw police investigations into alleged unprofessional comments, and inappropriate and unwanted touching by a police employee towards their colleague.

The criminal investigation determined there was not evidential sufficiency for a prosecution.

Police then conducted an employment investigation and found that the employee had behaved inappropriately and breached their Code of Conduct. Police also had an external investigator complete an investigation who found that the allegations were upheld.

The Authority agrees that the investigations and the findings were appropriate in the circumstances. The staff member no longer works for police.
