The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an incident involving an off-duty employee in Christchurch.
During the incident, on-duty officers were dealing with a group of intoxicated people fighting, which was witnessed by the employee. Initially identifying himself as an off-duty officer, he then started interfering in the situation and verbally abused the officers.
The Police investigation found the employee’s behaviour breached the Police Code of Conduct. Police then conducted a confidential employment process.
The Authority agrees with the findings of the investigation and is satisfied Police took appropriate action.
