The Authority oversaw two Police investigations into an officer who was alleged to have behaved in a manner that undermined trust and confidence in Police.
The allegations related in some part to the intersection of his personal life and his obligations and duties as a Police officer, leading to conflicts of interest. The allegations also related to access and disclosure of Police information.
The Police investigations did not recommend charging the officer with criminal offences relating to the behaviours or information access. The Authority agreed with these decisions.
Police undertook a confidential employment process and determined the officer breached the Code of Conduct in several respects. The officer was sanctioned as a result of one of the investigations and resigned in the course of the second investigation.
The Authority is satisfied that Police adequately investigated this matter, although disagreed with some of the findings made in one of the employment investigations. The Authority is also satisfied with the outcome.
