Complaints relating to historic photograph of an officer wearing a gang patch investigated

20 March 2025

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into several complaints after a photograph emerged on social media of an officer in uniform posing while wearing a gang patch.

Police did not identify any criminal concerns regarding the officer’s actions, as the photograph was taken several years ago. The gang patch had been seized as an exhibit and was worn by the officer inside the Police station.

Police instead addressed the officer’s actions through an employment process.

The Authority is satisfied with the Police investigation and agrees with the outcome reached.
