Police officer failed to comply with policy in pursuit prior to fatal motorcycle crash

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that a Police officer failed to comply with Police ‘Fleeing driver’ policy while pursuing a motorcyclist in Whakatane on 16 March 2024. The motorcyclist fatally crashed a short time after the officer abandoned the pursuit.
