The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that a male Police officer acted inappropriately towards two of his colleagues in separate incidents in August and October 2018.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found it was reasonable and appropriate for an officer to arm himself with a pistol and conduct a 'high risk vehicle stop' in Hastings on 21 July 2018. The officer believed the vehicle matched the description of a car that had recently been stolen along with 10 firearms. However, after searching the car Police discovered it was not the stolen vehicle.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that Police did not assault a young person following a pursuit in Palmerston North on 22 April 2018. However, the preceding pursuit should have been abandoned at an early stage.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that an officer in Te Araroa directed a man he suspected to be intoxicated to drive a short distance to a Police station, where the man failed an Evidential Breath Test. The Authority also determined that the officer did not accurately complete the breath-testing documentation.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that officers responded in a timely and appropriate manner as soon as they were aware that a fleeing driver had hit a pedestrian.
