The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint in Wellington District alleging Police failed to adequately investigate a sexual assault resulting in a decision to not lay charges. The review of the investigation found that there were a number of deficiencies in the investigation process, but these were not critical or influential to the case outcome. Police apologised for the deficiencies with the investigation but decided that re-opening the investigation would not result in a different outcome.
The Authority is satisfied with how the Police conducted the review of the investigation and the outcome reached.
