The Authority oversaw a Police investigation where an off-duty Police officer supplied false details to a NZ Fish and Game Officer while fishing without a license on a lake in the Bay of Plenty.
The officer was charged by Fish and Game NZ with two offences under the Fisheries Act 1996 and Conservation Act 1987. He pleaded guilty to both charges and was convicted and fined.
Police also conducted an internal investigation and found the officer's actions were in breach of their Code of Conduct, resulting in the officer receiving an employment sanction.
The Authority agrees with the Police findings and outcome.
