Officer insults Auckland shop assistant

16 March 2021

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint alleging that a Police officer in uniform, while shopping in Auckland, made inappropriate and disparaging remarks to a woman and her male colleague working in the shop.

The Authority agrees with the Police findings that the officer did not behave in a manner consistent with the Police Code of Conduct and Police values. Police have apologised to the woman as a result.

The conduct of the officer was addressed through a confidential employment process, and the Authority is satisfied with the outcome they reached.
