Officer uses unprofessional language during phone call with social worker

29 March 2022

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation after a social worker complained about the attitude and language of an officer during a phone call. The recorded call supported the social worker’s description of the officer’s poor conduct including swearing at the social worker before hanging up.

Police found the officer behaved unprofessionally during the phone call which the officer accepted. Police apologised to the social worker and her supervisor.

The officer’s conduct was dealt with through an employment process. The Authority agrees with the investigation findings and outcome.
