The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that an officer was unjustified in punching a man three times in the head while in the back of a Police car in Waimauku on 12 December 2022.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that a Police officer was justified in shooting a man who was in possession of a shotgun and had fired several shots at an unoccupied Grey Lynn address during an incident on 18 July 2022.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that the force used by a Police dog handler, including a kick to the head, was justified in apprehending a suspected fleeing burglar on 20 September 2023.

In the early morning hours of 26 May 2023, a stolen car with five occupants stopped near a liquor store in Dunedin. Some of the occupants broke into a container on the premises setting off the security alarm. The men stole several crates of beer. At about 1.25am, they fled from the premises. The car was seen by two officers in an unmarked Police car.
